Coaching Tenets

When I work with someone, I want to be clear about the approach I take in my work. My coaching tenets act as guiding principles and invitations for us to align our expectations.

  • Even when you act on your conditioned habits, beliefs, and values, your behaviors are not who you ARE. There's nothing wrong with you and absolutely nothing to fix. Instead, I regard you as extremely creative and resourceful, and together we will explore ways to address what you bring in.

  • If it's in you, it's human, and if it's here, it's welcome. I support my clients in learning to embrace more of what is by turning toward even the things we initially reject.

  • You are not your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, or personality traits. There is a neutral part of you - a witness to your experience. As we learn to strengthen this Inner Observer, we access increased neutrality and are free to bring compassionate curiosity to the human experience.

  • You cannot fail at coaching and you cannot fail at life. Anything and everything you experience brings potentially useful information.

  • There will be space to share and reflect about the past and look to the future, and the work of shifting our patterns is done in the present. We often work with what comes up by slowing down and meeting it in the moment. Though we may be working over a series of sessions, my intention is to be of service to what is presently arising.

  • This is your life; you are the one who lives it, inside and outside of our work together. While I may offer some structure, support, or guidance, you drive the process. It's up to you to choose what to bring into our sessions and what you take out of them. You are encouraged to say no or otherwise express your needs and preferences.

I dream of a world where everyone has opportunities to flourish while embodying our wholeness. I have come to believe that when even one person shows up with a bit more presence, the whole world benefits.
